The highlight of teaching this lesson online for me was getting the students involved and engaged, students get hands-on experience with the website going through a scavenger hunt and learning to play multiplayer games with their peers.
One the challenges was making sure students were finding the games on the website and not getting sidetracked with other games on the website.
A lesson I learned with teaching this lesson was, making sure that students understand their responsibilities online, and making sure that they are showing their best computer manners when we do online activites. For the future I will create a classroom contract on how we will be respectful during online activities and what active listening looks like during these times.
Eva, awesome blog post! This website is a win-win for both teachers and students, as it combines practicing concepts and learning with fun games. I totally agree with you that having to students involved through hands-on activities helped students to be more present and engaged during the lesson. What kinds of online responsibilities and respectful behaviours would you include on your contract?
